Repetitive Units

“I longed to remember his voice after his death, but I could not. Are there any sound records?”
At birth, the soul connects to the body and only departs at death, after its span of life. This cycle repeats itself as a unit. After passing away, in some cultures, people sprinkle water on the grave to cool its heat, while others light candles to provide warmth.
The apparatus of life draws the line of existence, resembling horizontal lines. It is a stream of consciousness—about futility and repetition, breath and heartbeat, language and understanding, figures and relations, earth’s movement and landscapes, sound and skylines, rhythm and randomness, stability and swaying, and the interplay of light and darkness.
The “Repetitive Units” are a series of expressive drawings created in a contemplative manner. For me, the medium of drawing is the closest to expressing feelings and thoughts—a direct connection between the pen and the surface, in a process reduced to its essence.
