Under Skin (work in progress)

The belief draws the details of the most decisive ceremonies of a person’s life, such as birth, marriage, and death. Personal beliefs and social traditions are a blend that constructs a collective structure for the individual and society to become an interwoven fabric that is difficult to separate. Over time – whether consciously or not – profound roots create a sense of belonging.

The familiar forms, materials, and textures can resurrect deeply rooted memories and create moments of nostalgia. “Under Skin” is a multi-disciplinary series based on reformulating and mixing elements and creating hybrid forms inspired by visual elements from this context.

The work’s focus is the self-image and its visual representation at the individual and collective level, together with the visual conjunction between different cultures.
